Waverley is an aging area with fewer young people than in the 1960s/70s. There are currently three groups in an area that used to have nine full groups with waiting lists. The District has been restructed several times to best serve the youth members of the local community. This page covers the history of current and former Scout Groups in the City of Monash. In the past Scout Groups were renamed whenever Districts changed which caused confusion. This has ceased and now Groups retain their existing names when Districts are rearranged such as in 1995 when all local government areas in Victoria were rationalised. In spite of research, in many cases I have had to estimate opening and closing dates of local Scout Groups. Some of the sources are inconsistent with others so I have used the most likely details. The research is continuing and new information continues to surface. If you have corrections or additional information to group histories, I would be glad to hear from you. |
