I had a great time at AJ2007 as a Scout and would like to attend AJ2010 but will be a month over the advertised age range – can I still apply?
No. The Contingent Council have ruled that over age Scouts will not be accepted as ‘Scouts’ at AJ2010.
Will Venturers under the age of sixteen years be accepted as part of the Venturer Service Team.
Venturers need to be at least 16 years old to attend AJ2010. Venturers, when accepted, will be attending as part of the Venturer Service Team. They must have achieved the Venturer Skills Badge, have been a Venturer for a minimum of six months and must be sufficiently mature to look after themselves for 10 days in a camping situation. The Venturer Service Team will be attending as service staff and will be allocated duties helping to run various activities for the Scouts - they will not be participating in the Scout program.
If I cannot
attend AJ 2010 as an under age Venturer is there anything else that I can
do?
Yes. The 11th New Zealand Venture is being held at the same time.
Where can I get financial assistance for my child?
In the first instance you should discuss this with your own Scout Group to find out what fund raising activities are being organised and how you can help them to help you. Occasionally local Service Organisations such as Lions, Rotary and Apex also help deserving projects.
What is the NEAR Fund?
The NEAR Fund has a limited amount of money to assist severely disadvantaged scouts to attend AJ2010. To apply for assistance you must download the Application Form from the Scouts Australia Victorian Branch website. Any funding granted will be limited to a part payment of the final instalment. To be considered for any funding assistance Participant Applications must be submitted and the appropriate deposit paid. The deadline for submitting a request for assistance from the NEAR Fund is June 30th 2009.
What is involved in Air Activities?
Scouts can get into Air Activities and experience the Excitement of cockpit procedures, observe Aircraft controls, listen to air traffic control Instructions as you soar high in our fleet of Cessna 172's. Enjoy uninterrupted views of the Hawkesbury Nepean district and your Camp Site at Cataract.
At AJ2010 flights from Camden airport will available at extra cost. There are a total of 3600 flights available which will be allocated a booking during the event. The cost includes transport between the Jamboree site and Camden aerodrome.
What time and from where will buses be departing on 3rd of January?
Buses will depart from a number of locations throughout Victoria but until applications are received and processed we cannot identify exact pick up points. Departure times will depend on the location of the pick up points and for this reason will vary. Those travelling from the suburban area of Melbourne will have the departure times detailed here in the near future.
How does a Group Leader nominate an additional Group contact to access and update participant details on the Jamboree database?
Group Leaders can access the online Application Form through the Victorian Contingent website. There is provision in the system for the Group Leader/Leader-in-Charge to authorise one other member of the Group to have access to the Jamboree Application System.
Can Scouts with ‘Additional Needs’ attend the Jamboree?

Can you visit the AJ2010 Jamboree site
Visitors at AJ2010
The NSW based organisers of AJ2010 (JOC) have decided to restrict visitor access to the Jamboree site. All visitors must preregister with JOC. This is in order to ensure the 22nd Australian Jamboree is a safe and secure event for everyone involved. Visitor access will be tightly controlled and restricted to one day.
Visitors Day
Visitors Day will be held on Saturday 9 January 2010 and will coincide with Future Scout Day. On this day all participants will be on site and everyone who plans to visit is urged to do so on this day. Please follow the application process below.
Visiting on other days
Not everyone who wants to visit AJ2010 will be able to make it on Visitors Day. To accommodate this, arrangements have been made to allow a maximum of 100 people on non-visitors days. To be able to attend on non-visitors days you will have to submit a small outline (via the comments section of the application form) of the special circumstances preventing you from attending on Visitors Days. Everyone is encouraged to make a special effort to attend on Visitors Day.
Visitors should note that there are 4 offsite activities scheduled and every attendee will attend at least 3. It is important if you are applying to attend on a day other than Visitors Day (Saturday 9 January 2010) you make sure the person(s) you are visiting will be on site.
Application form
The official application form and process is available from https://www.scoutsaj2010.com/registration/Login.asp
Apply as soon as possible to visit the biggest event on the Scouting calendar.
Can I charge my mobile phone?
There will be NO facilities available for youth members to recharge their phones. We strongly suggest that they leave them at home. They will have access to pay phones on site, although queues are often long, and internet café sites.
Leaders may be able to recharge their phones at their sub camp headquarters (yet to be determined) or at Victorian Contingent. These facilities will be limited.
